Five Loaves

Terms of Service

Effective May 29, 2026

These are the terms under which you can use Five Loaves. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. They cover what we promise, what you promise, what FiLo can and cannot do for you, and what happens if something goes wrong. Please read them.

We try to write things in plain language. Where a section matters more than the rest - intellectual property, the limitation of liability, governing law - we have called it out. If anything here is unclear, write to hello@fiveloaves.ai before you sign up.

Who we are

Five Loaves is operated by 5L Labs LLC ("Five Loaves", "we", "us"), a limited liability company organized in the State of South Carolina, United States. "The service" means the Five Loaves website, the FiLo chat experience, the small-group leader workspace, the member surfaces, and the related mobile apps.

The agreement

These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, are the agreement between you and Five Loaves for your use of the service. By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using any part of the service, you tell us that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of a church, group, or organization, you also tell us that you have the authority to do so.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective" date at the top and, if the change is material, give you notice in the service or by email at least fourteen (14) days before it takes effect (except where applicable law or a security issue requires us to act faster). Continuing to use the service after the new terms take effect means you accept the change.

Your account

You must be at least 13 years old to use the service. If you are between 13 and the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, you must use the service only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian who also agrees to these terms on your behalf.

When you create an account you agree to give us true and current information, to keep that information up to date, and to keep your sign-in credentials private. You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you suspect your account has been accessed by someone else, tell us promptly at hello@fiveloaves.ai and we will help you secure it.

Subscriptions and billing

Parts of the service are offered for a recurring subscription fee. When you subscribe to a paid plan, you authorize us, through our payment processor (Stripe), to charge your payment method on the schedule shown at sign-up. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current rate unless you cancel.

You can cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access to your paid features until then. Except where required by law, fees already paid are not refundable, and partial periods are not pro-rated.

We may change our prices. If we do, we will give you at least thirty (30) days' notice before the new price applies to you, and you can cancel before then if the new price does not work for you. Sales taxes, VAT, and similar government charges may be added where required.

What you can do with the service

You can use the service to plan and lead studies for your group, to write and refine manuscripts, to converse with FiLo about scripture and theology, to share study content with the members of your group, and to organize your meetings. You can use it on the web and (where available) on supported mobile platforms.

What you agree not to do

When you use the service, you agree not to:

  • Break the law, infringe someone else's rights, or violate any applicable regulation.
  • Harass, threaten, defame, or harm other people through the service, including members of your own group.
  • Use FiLo or any other part of the service to generate, store, or distribute content that promotes hatred, violence, sexual exploitation, or any form of abuse.
  • Misrepresent who you are, or impersonate another person or organization.
  • Try to gain unauthorized access to other accounts, groups, or non-public parts of the service.
  • Scrape, harvest, or otherwise extract content from the service in bulk, except through an interface we have offered for that purpose.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the service, except to the extent applicable law expressly allows it.
  • Interfere with the service's availability, security, or integrity (for example, by sending excessive traffic or uploading malware).
  • Use the service to develop a product or feature that competes with it, or to train an AI model that does the same.

We may suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe you have violated this section. Where appropriate and safe, we will give you notice and a chance to address the issue first.

Your content

You own what you write

The studies, manuscripts, notes, prayer requests, and other content you create in the service are yours. Five Loaves does not claim ownership of them. You are responsible for having the rights to anything you bring into the service (for example, text you paste from a copyrighted source).

The license you give us

To run the service for you, we need a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, transmit, display, and make derivative copies of your content. This license exists only for the purpose of operating the service and ends when you delete your content or your account, except for the limited time content remains in backups (see the Privacy Policy).

Sharing within a group

When you are a leader, the visibility setting you choose on a study section decides whether your group members can see it. When you are a member, content other leaders have marked visible to the group is shown to you. You agree to treat group content as belonging to the group: do not share it outside the group without the leader's permission.

FiLo and AI-generated content

FiLo is the AI assistant inside Five Loaves. It is a research and study aid. It is not a substitute for pastoral care, professional counseling, mental-health support, or legal or medical advice.

FiLo's responses are generated by a large language model and can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. Treat them as input to your own discernment. Verify what matters against scripture and the sources FiLo cites. Do not present FiLo's output to your group as authoritative scholarship unless you have checked it.

You agree not to ask FiLo to generate content that violates the "What you agree not to do" section above. We may apply automated and human review to detect that kind of misuse.

You retain whatever rights you have in your prompts. You also retain whatever rights you have in FiLo's responses to you, subject to the rights of the underlying model provider, scripture and lexicon licensors, and third parties whose work FiLo cites. You are responsible for how you use FiLo's responses outside the service.

Our content and intellectual property

The Five Loaves name and logo, the FiLo name and logo, the service's design and copy, and the software that runs the service are owned by 5L Labs LLC or our licensors, and are protected by intellectual-property laws. Nothing in these terms grants you ownership of any of it. You may use the service's interface as intended, but you may not copy our marks or our design for another product.

Scripture text shown in the service is provided under the license of the underlying translation (most are open or free-to-use; some translations have additional terms posted alongside the text). Theological and scholarship data shown in research cards is provided under each source's terms; FiLo surfaces those sources as citations so you can verify and cite them yourself.

Suspension and termination

You can stop using the service at any time and delete your account from settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, if your account is dormant for a long time, or if we discontinue a feature you were using. Where it is appropriate and safe, we will give you notice. If we terminate your account for reasons other than a serious violation, we will do our best to give you a way to export your content first.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (for example, the intellectual-property, disclaimers, limitation-of- liability, indemnification, and governing-law sections) will survive.

Disclaimers

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Five Loaves disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error free, or secure, or that any AI-generated response will be accurate. Your use of the service is at your own discretion and risk.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Five Loaves and its officers, employees, agents, suppliers, and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the service, whether based in contract, tort (including negligence), warranty, or otherwise, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

In any event, our total liability to you for all claims relating to the service in any twelve-month period will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the service during that period or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these limits. In those jurisdictions, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Five Loaves and its officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (i) your use of the service in violation of these terms or applicable law, (ii) content you submit or share through the service, or (iii) your infringement of any third party's intellectual-property or other rights.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The federal and state courts located in Charleston County, South Carolina have exclusive jurisdiction over any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the service, and you agree to that jurisdiction and venue, except that either party may bring an individual action in small-claims court.

Before filing any claim, we both agree to first try to resolve the dispute informally. Please write to us at hello@fiveloaves.ai with a description of the claim and what you would like us to do. We will respond within thirty (30) days. If we cannot resolve the dispute that way within sixty (60) days, either of us may bring a formal action as described above.

Miscellaneous

Entire agreement. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Five Loaves about the service, and they supersede any prior agreement about the same subject.

Severability. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.

No waiver. If we do not enforce a right under these terms, that does not mean we have given it up.

Assignment. You may not assign these terms without our written consent. We may assign them to a successor (for example, in a merger or acquisition).

Notices. We may send you notices through the service or to the email address on your account. You can reach us at the contact below.
